C HOUSE

Quezon City

This is a study on cohesive fragmentation. The main approach is to create blocks of separated spaces to compartmentalize different programmatic requirements of the client. This fragmentation is tied together by creating elements that wraps around the exterior of these masses blurring the isolation of these blocks. Natural light and ventilation is of great importance to the client and is achieved by navigating the site to hug the big, existing trees on the site giving ample cavities that serve as breathing space of the home, The exterior seamlessly blends toward the heart of the house that features a double height courtyard space. This core of the house adds the desired tropical elements that enhances the livability and comfortability of the users.

A mix of cast-in-place concrete blocks, white horizontal elements and wood accents create a harmonious texture to the structure that shows honesty to materials. Two huge adobe-clad walls slice the whole house volume from outside to inside that gives the continuity of materials and additional warmth to the interiors.
