Hulma. Anthology 2020 Follies of Architecture.

The installation challenges the Duality of Architecture through the use of anamorphosis. With the exploration of anamorphic projections, the installation becomes a puzzle where users can rotate three tiers of abstracted slats to find the perfect alignment and reveal three hidden geometric shapes as projections on the concave cylinder. . It challenges our perception of what realities actually make up the objects that we see. What is ugly or chaotic may actually produce something beautiful and perfect. It also tests out the integration of an old low tech technique of revealing hidden objects through projections with high tech software explorations on rhino+grasshopper to easily extract distorted objects that can be produced quickly with automated laser cutting. . Hulma is meant to be played with. And by playing, we hope that users will Think and (RE)Think their perceptions of Architecture . This installation wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of William Ti and Anthology. Thank you! . Design team: Jed, Steph, Luis and Ish .
